The computer instruction and often divided into two parts:

  • An opcode:- Spcifies the operation for that instruction
  • An Address:- Specifies the register s/locations in memory to use for that operation

In basic computer, we need 12 bit to specify memory address, the 15th bit of the instruction specifies the addressing mode (0-direct addressing mode, 1 for indirect addressing mode). and the remaining 3 bits for instruction opcode.

The variaous addressing mode are:

a) Direct Addressing Mode:

In this addressing  mode, the instruction code contains address of operand.

b) Immediate addressing Mode:

In this addressing mode, the instruction code contains operand.

c) Immediate Addressing Mode:

Instrction code contains address of address of operand.
