When one by one study of all units of a population is not possible due to some factors like time, cost, manpower, resources and destructive nature of study, we take a small representative part from the population for the study. This small represenatative part selected for the study from the population is called sample. The process of selecteding a sample from a population is called sampling. For Example: A pathologist takes a syringe of blood as a sample to find out a disease. Probability Sampling Technique: It is defined as the method of sampling technique in which each unit of the population has fixed probability of selecting in the sample. These are several probablity sampling methods: Simple Probablity sampling Stratified Probablity Sampling Systamatic Probablity Sampling Cluster Probablity Sampling Multi-stage Probablity Sampling Advantage of Probablity Sampling Technique: The absence of systematic error and sampling bias Higher level of reliability of research findings Increased accuracy of sampling error estimation The possibility to make inferences about the population. Effective to collect choose samples from broad population base Cost-effectiveness Simple and straightforward in application Disadvantage of Probablity Sampling Technique: Higher complexity compared to non-probability sampling More time-consuming Usually more expensive than non-probability sampling
