On the basis of Instruction Stream and Data Stream, Computer are classified info 4 types. They are called Flynn's Classifications. They are Single Instruction Stream, Single Data Stream (SISD) Single Instruction Stream, Multiple Data Stream (SIMD) Multiple Instruction Stream, Single Data Stream (MISD) Multiple Instruction Stream, Multiple Data Stream (MIMD) 1.Single Instruction Stream, Single Data Stream (SISD) Organization of a single computer containing a control unit, a processor unit and a memory unit. Instruction are executed sequentially. System may or may not have internal parallel processing capability. Parallel Processing may be achieved by means of multiple functional units or by pipeline processing. 2. Single Instruction Stream, Multiple Data Stream (SIMD) It represent an organization of computer that includes many processing unit and the control of common control unit (CU). All the processor receives the same instruction from the control unit (CU) but operates in different items of data. The shared memory unit must contains multiple modules so that it can communicate with all the processor simultaneously. 3. Multiple Instruction Stream, Single Data Stream (MISD) Only theoretical Multiple instruction on single data is not possible practically   4. Multiple Instruction Stream, Multiple Data Stream (MIMD) It refers to a computer system that ha capability of processing several program at a same time.
